While we’re still continuing to only send out new letters by mail, I’ve made a renewed effort to record more of the older letters to audio.
I’m doing this for a few reasons:
It’s sometimes easier to listen than to read. And I know for me personally, some of the most impactful truths in my life have been ones that I’ve heard — or more accurately — listened to on repeat over and over again.
It’s an opportunity for me to reflect on my own journey over these past several years (we’ve been publishing for about 2 1/2 years now). As I reread and record, two things happen:
I’m humbled as I see my own limitations and how I struggled to say certain things clearly or simply.
I’m grateful to the Lord for His faithfulness to patiently teach and guide us.
Lastly, I hope these will be something that my kids will listen to one day. This goes without saying, but our lives are but a breath, fleeting, passing by quicker than a weaver’s shuttle. I want to be able to preserve some of my testimony in a format that includes my voice so that my children will always have that just in case they want it.
You can find these recordings on Spotify or on any podcast app under the name Kingdom Heard. There’s also a landing page here that provides direct links to the episodes.
Repenting and rejoicing,
Derek
P.S. As a reminder, even if you’re not on the mailing list, you can still download and print PDFs of the newest letters.
