The word of the Lord is good.
As You have spoken, let it come to pass. My soul waits for You and in Your word I place my hope.
While our days and the days of our ancestors are nothing more than a handful of breaths, Your words are forever. Your words overtake us. Therefore we turn, we return to You, and we embrace Your words as our very life, our choicest possession, the treasure of our hearts.
“As the Lord has determined to do to us, so He has dealt with us.” Let it be so. Speak Lord, for your servants are listening. Return to us as we return to You and to Your words.
We are poor and needy, yet You think upon us. Therefore, make haste to us, O God. Even as we are content to wait for You, do not delay. Even as we resolve ourselves to stand still, watching for Your salvation, be not far from us.
For a moment, our steps slipped, we almost stumbled, as we forgot Your words. We were filled with grand visions, “We are rich, wealthy, and have need of nothing.” Then You spoke, and the truth was revealed, we were as beasts before You. Wretched, miserable, poor, blind, naked, yet Your thoughts towards us are too numerous to be counted. You call to us and You counsel us, “Buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye slave, that you may see.”
Lord, Your lovingkindness is too much for us to understand, for even as we are poor and needy, still You think of us, counsel us, and continue to speak kindly, as a Father, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.”
Therefore, we will be zealous and repent. Zealous for Your words, zealous for Your love, zealous for You.
The word of the Lord is good. It is true, pure, just, prevailing, and it will come to pass. Therefore we wait for You, our souls wait, more than those who watch for the morning - yes, more than those who watch for the morning - we wait for You, and in Your word, we place our hope.
